Academies
Our signature academies are unique to Monsignor Pace and offer our students an opportunity to further explore and develop their academic interests. They allow the student to investigate potential paths that they will pursue in college and possible career avenues after college. Students have the opportunity to take electives in the academy of their choice over a multi-year period. These academies provide experiences beyond the classroom and will connect them with the real world of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, communications, law, and the arts.
Academy of Law Studies
The academy provides students who have an interest in law, law-related fields, and legal and ethical issues an opportunity to extend their knowledge beyond the typical high school program. The academy offers students the opportunity to embrace not only an academic curriculum that will prepare them for post-secondary education, but also will allow them career exploration within the area of legal studies.
Advanced Biomedical Sciences
STEM AcademyStudents in this program design innovative solutions for the health challenges of the 21st century. They work through progressively challenging open-ended problems, addressing topics such as clinical medicine, physiology, biomedical engineering, and public health. Students will be prepared to pursue career opportunities including but not limited to: Pharmacist, Forensic Scientist, Medical & Clinical Lab Technician, Nurse, Physician, or Physician Assistant.
Emerging Computer Technologies
STEM AcademyThe program has two areas: Programming and Graphic Design. Programming offers a sequence of courses that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge needed to prepare for further education and careers in Information Technology. Graphic Design offers a sequence of courses that provide skills and knowledge necessary for further education and careers in computer graphics and graphic design.
Engineering
STEM AcademyThis program offers a sequence of courses that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards that prepare students for further education and careers in engineering. The program features advanced math and science courses to ensure students meet the minimum requirements for acceptance to a collegiate engineering program. The specialized courses enable students to explore the various fields within engineering, discover the principles of the engineering design process, and develop crucial problem-solving, designing, and professional presentation skills.
First Responder/EMT
STEM AcademyWe provide one of the most comprehensive trainings for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). This is a student's first step toward being a paramedic, a crucial role-player in our healthcare system. Students will become certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED. The program culminates with Barry University's EMT instructors teaching the students the life saving techniques that they will use in actual emergency situations. Students will ride along with various first responders as well as visit and assist ER Physicians and Nurses during hospital clinical rotation. Students will have the opportunity to sit for Florida's EMT certification exam.
Art
Academy of Visual & Performing ArtsThe program is intensive and focuses on the visual arts. Students will start by receiving a foundation, covering the elements of art and basic drawing techniques. The program will then allow students to explore more intensive techniques through: drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture. Students will be required to maintain a sketchbook throughout their high school studies for review and evalution. They will also be able to explore their own unique style and understanding of themselves later in their last year of the program.
Dance
Academy of Visual & Performing ArtsThe program is designed to enable students to enhance performance and technical skills at the intermediate/advanced level. It is designed to increase technical skills in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Hip Hop Dance. Students will experiment with movement and form to create routines and understand the principles of choreography. The Dance Program will demand a high level of effort and commitment requiring the student to attend rehearsals, performances, and master classes beyond the normal school day.
Music
Academy of Visual & Performing ArtsThe program is divided into two separate areas of study based on the student's individual musical background and goals. The emphasis in Band/Instrumental is designed to advance the beginning woodwind, brass, or percussion musician through the fundamentals of reading music, performance techniques, and eventual AP Music Theory exam, giving them the opportunity to gain college credit. The emphasis in Guitar follows the band/instrumental program with a unique focus on guitar performance and technique.
Theatre
Academy of Visual & Performing ArtsThe program is divided into three separate areas of emphasis based on the student's individual background and goals. The Acting emphasis is designed to advance students in the craft of theatre. The student will receive a solid foundation in all aspects of theatre. The Musical Theatre emphasis is concentrated study in singing, acting, and dance for students interested in pursuing performance careers in musical theatre. The Technical emphasis provides instruction on directing, stagecraft, and design.
