Cristina Pla-Guzman, Class of 2002, becomes the Cervantes Award honorary recipient this year

Congratulations to Cristina Pla-Guzman, Class of 2002, for becoming this year's Cervantes Award honorary recipient! The Cervantes Award is an award given by Nova Southeastern University to the teacher who goes above the standards of teaching to impact the Hispanic students. Going about choosing such a person with these qualities consists of a nomination process by the administrators and past recipients. The same committee then votes on a winner. The majority of teachers at Pace are eligible for this award because 70% of the Pace population are Hispanic. As the drama and choir teacher, Cristina implements diverse teaching methods that amplify the students' learning potential. She is also praised as an inspirational theater director, and her students, Troupe 5457, win outstanding rankings in competitions every year.
